Classic Car Show - capesthorne hall 27th may 2007

Capri280 21st Anniversary since the car ceased production

Well, the 21st Anniversary event came and, er, went.....................

In stark contrast to the 2005 event at Capesthorne Hall it was a very subdued, cold, wet, & miserable experience. I tried to get excited but my aged bones gave in to the temperature and H2O.

The weather guys got it spot on and that must have put many 280 owners off from attending - can't blame them.

I was told that 45 were registered to come but about 24 turned up. Hats off the the folk from Scotland and Hartlepool etc who travelled a long way for a virtual wash out. I only travelled 200 miles but had other things planned over the weekend that balanced things out.

Here's some pics that depict probably how most of us felt.

At least we did better than the poor folk who had to park on the grass field this year.

You can't actually see me but I was one of the wimps who was sitting in his 280 with the engine running and heater full on! I kid you not it was a real chiller.

Thanks to all the 280 owners who came up and introduced themselves to me - it was great to meet you and if I can be of any assistance in the future please make further contact vis this site. Apologies to the 'victims' who began to suffer my 'Rivet Counting' persona that seems to possess me for a while during the morning!! I was glad to have been of assistance to a few owners and we did have a laugh between showers, well, between the heavy and light ones.

I was quite chuffed to see 4 Capri 280's that I had prepared in previous years at the event with owners suitably smiling - that's always a good sign. Maybe one day I can put on an event solely with Dr B 280's??

The fact that 2 of them just won Gold and Silver awards at the Capri National Event last week made me grin a bit too - well done you guys!

ED NOTE: I should add at this point that I have received emails expressing disappointment about this event. Can I say that Brooklands280.com had nothing whatsoever to do with the arrangements, planning or organisation, etc for this event.

I did advertise the event on my website. I did coerce a few undecided 280 owners to bring their cars along and if you feel disappointed in any way (other than the weather, which even Dr B has no control over!) please direct any further comments and thoughts to the below named who was the organiser of the event:- (I'm sure Mark will seek to answer any queries or concerns you have - please be constructive - it ain't easy being an organiser and when no-one else seeks to do it, it can be a thankless task on occasions)

ps if you have any pics that were taken in brighter weather on the day let me have one or two please.
