the worlds only g reg capri 280

I did pose the question "who's got the only G Reg?" well everything comes to those who wait......

OK - time to fess up - the G reg is sold. Gone up t'north as they say. Still, better than going Sarf.....................

"I bought the car in December 2001. It had 1 owner before that. He bought it
from Dees of Croydon. Apparently it was left in the showroom as this dearlership
wouldn't reduce the price to sell it so it remained until 20/11/89. I have
the following with the car:

Original factory manufacture docket
Original dealers assurance certificate
Stamped up service book from 14/3/90 to 28/11/01 with 9 stamps
Copies of service / repair / MOT receipts
MOT's from 1997 (but copies of MOT receipts from 1992)
It is still on Pirelli P7's - original I believe.

The interior is original and untorn. The boot underneath the spare is completely
spotless. The stereo is original, with working aerial. There is no rust on
the pillars, doors or wheel arches. I have covered under the arches with
Tetroseal so know this area is clean. The rear drums had become seized and
the cylinders changed - the mechanic who changed then commented upon how
clean the drums were inside.

I haven't really used it much as it is one of 3 Capri's. One is a mint B
reg 2.8 (I actually had it parked next to Dr Brooklands own 280 at the Capri Summer Camp
before he drove off to put it under cover when it started to rain!) (Ed. Perfectly true I got soaked to the skin at good old Bagders Hill CCI event and I gave up - I know, light-weight that's me....)Jon continues "the B reg I drive every day."

I haven't taken it to any shows myself except a local classic car show a
couple of years ago. One of the guys on the Tickford stand (Jason I think) suggested that
I take it to the Capri show in May next year so I may do that.

Dr Brooklands comment: I met 'Jon' at the NEC in November when my 280 was on display. I think I detected a hint of smugness when he chimed in with 'I've got the G Reg Brooklands' !
What could I say but, 'Hope it's got less than 1,000 miles on it?' And I had him - 'cos he admitted it was a very high twenty odd thou........ But seriously, this car is the only G reg in the world and a corker at that- although I know of an unregistered one (which I wasn't prepared to pay 20k for)

If I owned the G Reg - I would go against Jons wishes and totally eliminate every blemish - then I show it and I'd get a car magazine interested in doing an article - that way it gets to be famous.

Who knows this one may find it's way into my little stable?? what d'ya reckon Jon??

Well, now we know the answer!
