Ford Fair 2002 - Silverstone
Took my Brooklands to Ford Fair at Silverstone on Sunday 4th August.
Had a great day. Weather was very kind and 15,000 Ford nuts came
through the gates. Must say that Ford Fair organisers did a very
good job of marshalling and stewarding. It was much better than
Ford Fair 2000 at High Clare Castle, so well done you guys.
I have never seen so many people drooling over my 280 before! There
were Capri fans of all all ages and from all parts of Europe. Made
it quite interesting, although it was a bit of a job wiping all
those sticky finger marks off the paintwork all day!
Overall, it was a nice day and there are plenty of reasons to see
why Ford shows are the best. Uncle Henry really started something
when he built that Model 'T' all those years ago. Pity Ford Motor
Company can't see that there is a huge demand for the Classic Fords
of the 60's, 70's and 80's. If Ford built some retro styled Capris,
Cortinas and Mk1 type Eskkies, they would have a huge demand for
the cars. Basically we don't want front wheel-drive, electric windowed,
air-conned Euro-styled cars. We just want revised versions of the
Legend please.
The guys from Ford Fair came and did a photo shoot of me and my
car, so it will feature in the Ford Fair report. Everyone who saw
the 280 was gob-smacked by it's condition and how sweet it sounded.
All I need is a real buyer who has his own mind and the cash to
make me part with the car. If it stays with me - there'll be less
280's next year so it will go up in value I suppose. Last year there
were 7 or 8 Brooklands at Ford Fair this year there were 3, 1 in
Concours (mine was better!) and two for sale. They get rarer each
year.

My 280 early in the morning before the hordes arrived.
It's a bit gorgeous!................................................
