Description:
This
Capri 2.8i ........
Was purchased in 1984 from Sharman and Ladbury in Melton
Mowbury.
In 1985 the car moved to Aberdeen where it stayed in
Scotland until 2017.
The V5 shows 4 previous keepers and it is understood
the Capri was kept in storage for about 14 years until
2010.
The car has covered 52650 miles since new. The condition
of the interior, engine bay mechanics and outward appearance
are absolutely stunning.
She drives beautifully, gearbox is sweet, axle flawless
and even the steering wheel feels like it's hardly ever
been handled.
The dash is superb with no sign of the dreaded sun-cracking
on so many Capri's kept outside for years.
The 3rd owner only retained the original Service Book
showing services up to 10,000 miles from henceforth maintained
by the owners. Unfortunately the only existing MOTs are
the 2010 and 2017 ones. The document folder was lost between
3rd and 4th owner. So a limited history but the car says
it all.
The car is so original that the engine bay rubber hoses
still have the production 'witness' marks on them. All
panels original Ford. Carpets unmarked.
Bumpers, over riders all genuine Ford.
Radio, heater, sunroof etc all working fine.
The exhaust system is genuine Ford from the manifolds
to the tail pipes which are satin black as when it left
the factory.
Pepperpot wheels were powder coated and were absoluley
unmarked to start with.
Brand new top tint bronze windscreen fitted February
2018.
In 2017 the Capri was treated to a full repaint in genuine
Ford Cardinal Red and 2.8i livery to do justice to the
car, which in nearly every respect seems like it belongs
in the showroom somewhere!
HPI check is clear.
The new owner will have a 12 month MOT from date of sale.
A mechanical inspection at the buyers expense is welcomed.
The Ford Capri has just reached it's 50th Anniversary.
So perhaps there's never been a better time to experience
the car you always promised yourself. Keep that promise!
42,820
miles. from new. That's 1475 miles

Description:
This
Capri.....
Never thought I'd be seeing this one for sale again.
I fully prepared this amazing Capri 280 in 2007 for a
very exacting customer who had about 2 years of great
pleasure from it.
The 280 then went to a collector in London where it has
sat under cover since, with the occasional start and run
to keep the 'juices flowing'.
The Capri 280 was treated to a Turbo Technics conversion
by Turbo Technics themselves at their own factory after
the owner had put a few thousand miles on to fully bed
the engine in.
The F16 conversion entails a 2 stage turbo system with
a wastegate valve that increases the bhp from 200 to 240
at the flick of a switch. The custom exhaust added the
additional 10 bhp to make 240 from the 230 TT estimate.
This car is so rare I only know of one other 280 TT F16
and that's in France.
The pictures tell the story. But if you are interested
the leather was fully re-Connollised, the wheels re-coated,
and the bodywork was treated to a fabulous Standox Brooklands
Green finish with glass finish lacquer machine polished
to excellence.
When I delivered the car to the current owner half his
street turned out to exclaim, "Oh my gosh - we've
never seen a Capri looking like that!" (or words
to that effect....).
As a driving experience, I have had over 37 Brooklands
and 8 2.8 Injections. Several TT conversions included.
The only Capri that has half terrified me was this one.
The brakes are properly upgraded, there is a Ford LSD
prepared by the late Rex Paddock of Monmouth, but even
so the car needs total respect.
Whilst this is the good news, the not so good news is
that the owner has suffered recent ill health and now
has reluctantly offered the car for sale.
If you think this is the car for you - couple of things:-
1. Contact the owner directly.
2. If you do not have the funds - don't call.
3. If you are serious, please arrange a viewing and/or
test drive.
4. This car is very rare, very low miles and quite possibly
unique in the Capri world. Whilst for sale now, if any
dreamers approach the owner I'm pretty sure he will just
withdraw the car and put it back under wraps.
So, for more details
and genuine enquiries email me via this
website and I'll pass on the sellers details.
ps car located in London area.
I can personally vouch for this
car - I prepared it.
I have over 100 pictures
of the Capri - if you are genuinely
interested, please
ask for more and I'll email them to you.

Description:
This
Capri.....
Was 'born' at UBM Ford Cardiff in 1984. She's 32 years
old this year. And having spent a lot of time locked away
in heated garages with de-humidifiers! she's back - and
only 17 miles from her original owner.
I was almost resisting putting this advert on until the
pictures can be taken as I have no proper words to describe
this car.
I've never bought a Capri over the phone and without
driving it, even when the covers were pulled off. That's
the first time ever. There are only a few Capri S models
left in the UK. Seen many at shows etc, never seen one
like this.
I will list the observations below in some sort of order,
trying to avoid the typical automotive superlatives and
cliches, although it will be difficult.
1. Originality - this car is 100% original
- except for the new battery - they just don't last 32
years. The wheels are pristine and date stamped.
The bodywork and panels - like new (newer than new)
The engine, gearbox (5 speed) like new and sweet as anything.
Interior looks and feels like never used.
2. Spare wheel and jack - never been
out I'm told and I believe it.
3. Tyres absolutely original spec as
fitted to the S Capri when launched.
4. Exhaust - Genuine Ford OEM part.
5. Drives like a Capri 2.0 S out of
the showroom.
6. Everything that should work - does
work.
7. Keepers - 3 in total - One of which
was a Classic Car dealership who had it from the widow
of the first owner.
8. Engine bay - every factory distinguishing
mark that Ford left on the engine, and accompanying parts
are still there exactly as it left the assembly line.
If you know your Capris you'll understand what these represent.
There is a limited history file - the first owners bought
the car in 1984, it was a second car. The husband sadly
died and the wife of the owner, parted with the car soon
after. In 2009 the car had done 11,000 miles. Unfortunately
the original bill of sale and Service Book were just lost
in the aftermath of the bereavement. I have what is available,
some MOTs, some service bills, some Ford handbooks and
a new blank Ford Service book from the 1980's - which
is a nice accessory to start the cars fresh record in
2016..
This car has no question marks - it's the real deal. I
have taken the unusual step of not stating the sale price.
Current auction estimates by Brightwells and Silverstone
auctions is £18k - £22k. The fees
involved usually mean that another 15% of the sale price
evaporates between the seller and the buyer. (I've seen
a very low miles 2.0 S at £25k - pity the over-riders
on the rear of that car were put back on in the wrong
position, but hey I'm just picky....)
For this reason, auction for my Capri S will be a last
resort.
This Capri 2.0 S is finished in Cardinal Red, not to be
confused with Rosso Red. It's a deeper shade and quite
rare.
I can't say the paintwork is flawless, I think a fly landed
on it once in 1985 and the offending footprints were immediately
polished off!
If you want to register your interest
feel free.
This is not a 2.8 Injection. It's a 2.0 S SOHC motor.
Although it has a top speed of over 115mph - remember
it's not a V6 - but a 4 cylinder. Also note that it is
rack and pinion NON powered steering. These days when
everything is powered, it's a shock to the system to find
things don't just swish around with your little finger.
The joys of classic Fords.
There will obviously be no test pilots, tyre kickers and
time wasters. In fact I guess that a very small percentage
of Capri fans will come for this one. Not because it's
not desirable - but because you won't want it to get wet,
park it, leave it outside. Plus it's not a DelBoy special
- this is most likely a show winner - although it's never
been shown to my knowledge - no sticky fingers and belt
buckles near this car. So......
.........Please email me your best offer - I
promise to respond ASAP.
Edit update:
Took Capri out for photoshoot today. Accosted
by at least 6 people all wanting pictures. No-one could
believe the condition of the car. One guy asked if I restored
the Capri. I laughed and said, "The Capri has only
be 'stored' not 'restored'. Nearly fell off his perch!
I get fed up with expressions like 'time capsule', 'time-warp'
etc but there's no way to describe the feeling of gliding
along the highwyas in a 38 year old Capri 3.0 Ghia. Expect
to bump into Marty McFly any time.........
Viewing is essential to be honest.
The auto box is a Ford C3 and was factory rebuilt at a cost
of £970 2 months ago. (auto boxes that are not used
frequently just sludge up - fact of life) drives wonderfully.
All gears smooth as silk, kick-down will delight, ready for
any overtake.
The customary toots of approval from adoring motorists have
exceeded even my best 280's so far. It seems this Capri 3.0
Ghia just sets the pulses racing.
Any inspection is welcomed. An engineers report is no problem
- subject to terms and conditions I can discuss later.
A test drive will most likely seal the deal. The pictures
sort of do the car justice - the light was failing when pictured
(you try and find a dry day in December/January!!)
This Capri is so gorgeous and drives so well it practically
owns the road.
Heated window works, rear wipers too, sunroof tilts and slides,
heater motor both speeds.
The radio is original - with MW and LW. Works fine, although
in 1977 FM was just wishful thinking...
The Janspeed system is so lovely - radio not needed!
In 2 years this car will achieve it's 40th birthday - expect
it to rise in value.
A
check on 'Where are they now' website suggests this is probably
the only Arizona Gold 3.0 Ghia in the UK - if anyone knows
different - call me.
Call me for a test drive and to discuss purchase
details. Thanks Dr B. Tel 07974 000857

Is the rarest of the rare. It's the 3.0 litre
Capri Ghia automatic in Arizona gold with biscuit /biege
vinyl roof.
It is SO Bodie and Doyle you can almost hear
them screeching to a halt with 2 inches to spare between
front bumpers!
The car is almost Concours. I say almost as I've
never presented a car that is Concours, just usual show
standard and stunning.
The Ghia has the amber / gold interior totally
original. The steering wheel fitted is a Ford RS but the
original Ghia wheel comes with the car - see pics.
Every panel is original. The motor is so sweet
it'll make you cry! Especially when the new Janspeed exhaust
system releases the renowned burble / growl from the tail
pipes.
Each wheel is Ford Ghia, powder coated and shod with
Goodyear NCT Eagles.
The glass is also original and etched with the reg number.
Even the windscreen has the German sticker inside regarding
sunroof operation.
Everything that is fitted to the vehicle operates as
per the handbook.
The Perana is V8 302 Mustang powered, with 5 speed Tremec
gearbox.
UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE
STOP PRESS -
totally brand new roller cam 450 bhp motor - from air cleaner
to oil pan!!! Custom built in America - for November 2014
- new pictures when available.
On it's website under Project Gunston you will be able to
find out most of what you need to know. The site is still
being added to daily, so more will appear.
The sound, the sight and the driving is exquisite. A crowd
pleasing, mind blowing experience.
Ask any questions but only if you are a serious contender
for purchase. There is just no time in my schedule to field
general chit chat about the car.
There are only two cars like this in the world. The first
is the original A2 which sits at home in Cape Town South Africa.
It is a race car - is not for sale - and has the scars, and
bruises of a 42 year old racer.
The second car is mine. It is as near perfect as you can
get in terms of appearance, finish, detail, sound and performance.
My car hails from South Africa and has the 'blessing' of Basil
Green whom I met in 2009 at the 3/4 point in my project. He
thinks the Capri is the best of the Peranas.
This is a once in a lifetime chance to own and drive the
legendary Gunston Capri Perana. There is no other Perana tribute
car that comes anywhere near to mine. It was voted best project
of 2010 by African Muscle Car forum.
What do you get if you buy the car?
1. The car.
2. All records, documents, receipts, photographs and video
on DVD.
3. The number plate, spare paint from the same batch bought
in South Africa.
4. Maybe the website.
As stated in the website - no test drives without full insurance
and a fairly substantial deposit. Returned at end of drive.
There will be no test pilots, 'racers' or dreamers involved
in this purchase.
Email me via this site to ask questions or arrange a mutual
time to speak on the phone.
Thanks for looking.
Email me or call with only genuine, serious offers regarding
the prospective sale please.
NB -
SPECIAL OFFER - This car will have 5 years free Classic Car
insurance if bought in 2013. (subject to driver status of
course)
Remember - this car
is Zero rated for Road Tax. So all you pay is £40 a
year MOT - not bad for a V8 Mustang powered car eh?

After an 8 year build program I am offering the chance
for someone to purchase my Capri
Perana Gunston Replica. The car is my
personal project and has been a part of my life for a
solid 8 years. Privately owned and a private sale.
This has been my personal project since 2005. There is
far too much to say about the car other than, view the
website at:-
The car is a millimetre perfect replica of the original
South African Team Gunston Capri known as A2. The main
difference being mine is a road going version of the car.
The attention to detail is exceptional. The car has won
awards including Motorsport Car of the Year 2011.
The exhaust is hand made Long Life stainless and sounds exciting
to say the least. Got friendly neighbours I trust??
All original panels - meticulously maintained.
I have removed nearly every blemish on the bonnet, wing tops
etc in my usual no expense spared fashion.
The wheels are 15 inch Brooklands styled wheels with brand
new tyres - 4 miles covered only.
Drives like new. Handles like new. Feels like new.
A quick look at Fleabay and Glumtree will show you the type
of Capri's that are around these days - have a look around
at what's out there then if you fancy a cuppa and a natter
about V6 stuff - call me or email me.
A full inspection is welcomed. Car will come with new MOT
if required.

genuine sensible offer will be considered.

Capri.....
Offered again for sale. It was recently sold
to a lovely couple from Lancashire who really wanted a
Capri 280. I didn't have one so I agreed to sell the 2.8i
on condition that when I found a low miles 280 they would
have first offer.
Well, 4 weeks later I did just that and delivered
it to their door. The Capri 280 wasn't even listed for
sale it was that quick.
Hence the blue 2.8i is now back here for sale
again.
It's a 1986 Injection Special. Started out life in Cardiff
28 years ago, and has lived within 4 miles of the supplying
dealership ever since. Last owner 25 years.
The car has covered 42,000 miles.
Limited slip diff of course.
Interior as per pictures.
Engine bay - well OK I have to comment here. Would I
have done this to a Capri engine bay? Probably not. But
when I saw the detailing and expense spent on the trim,
hoses, polishing, chroming etc I had to admit - much rather
an engine bay to delight the eyes than the usual 'slam
the bonnet down and go for a strong coffee' kind of bay
- and I've seen a few horror stories in my time.
In short this engine whilst heavily detailed could be
returned to standard inside of 3 hours if you wanted to
replace all hoses and remove the shiney bits which mostly
just pull off. However this has grown on me and I love
it now.
This Capri can be test driven and pre-approved before
purchase. Mechanical inspection welcomed.
It a fabulous motor car and one of a few sub 50,000 mile
cars in the UK today. Been lavished with love and TLC
all it's life.
ps if no 280 had been found so soon, this 2.8i would
still be living up North without a problem.
Call me for a test drive and to discuss purchase details.

Disc brakes all round - Wilwood 4 pot calipers
serve an uprated disc system and specialist pads make the
car stop when and where you want it to.
Of course there is a limited slip diff and
power steering.
The windows are electric.
The front and rear of the car show the one-off
3.6 chrome badge on the grill and a unique 3.6 Injection Special
decal on the tailgate. Moores dealership branding are on the
rear window sticker and the tax disc holder.
The exhaust system is a special bespoke system
in stainless steel using 2.5 inch pipes and a balancer pipe
across the two mid section pipes. The sound has been compared
to a Maserati but thats a matter of opinion. All I know is
that going through tunnels is a life changing experience!!
The interior is pretty much time warp and
the whole experience is exceptional.
In 27 years of Capri ownership I have never
had one like this. In fact I do not believe there is another
3.6 Capri Injection in the UK - unless anyone knows different?
If you like bog standard and unmodified Capri's
then you'll be best advised not to come and see this car.
However, if you understand and appreciate a fully professionally
converted Capri that is faithful to the name but is SO different
then come on down!!
You will have no peace when you drive this
car - people will forever be giving adoring signals, taking
pictures and regaling you with stories of their first Capri....
sorry but that's life in the world of my Capri's.
There is a good document history file showing
the relentless dedication to servicing and maintenance that
makes this solid, straight and honest car one of the most
unique Capri's around.
As my regular visitors know I only do genuine
authentic and unmodified (unmolested) Capri's. I have made
a super exception in this case. The car is as stealth as you
need. All the upgrades are pretty much concealed until you
decide to unleash them.
The car can be viewed and road tested with
prior arrangements. A test drive will require a Fully Comp
policy beforehand. A mechanical inspection is welcomed at
buyers expense. The inspection will have to be carried out
on site and the car never leaves my garage for the test.
A 12 month MOT is standard.
The original 13 inch wheels will be supplied
with the car - although due to improved front brakes the 13
inch wheels will not fit unless the discs are returned to
standard 247mm and caliper brackets removed.

Description:
This
Capri....
Where to start?
Well this particular Capri started life
in 1985 as a 2.8i Injection Special. In 1995 the owner
who bought it new from Moores Garage in Weybridge took
the car to Torque Developments in Essex. The instructions
were to build an engine that would transform the car.
The motor was specially built to 3.6 litre specifications
and utlized the 2.9 induction system together with stroked
crankshaft and larger bores. The gearbox was sent to Turbo
Technics for uprating.
The gear stick has a Quick shift action.
The cylinder heads have larger 3 angle
cut valves, hardened seats, and is a fully unleaded conversion.
The latest engineering work on the heads was by an ex
-Williams F1 engine builder.
The fuel injection system is still K Jetronic
and all mechanical - no ECU involved.
The car has been kept indoors all of its
life. The term 'no expense spared' is over used for some
cars, but in this case it's accurate. The Capri has been
undersealed, Waxoyled and has all original panels.
Recent full top to bottom front to rear
re-paint in Ford T9 black. Years of stone chips and minor
touch ups did not do the car justice - and I require justice
for my Capri's as most of you know. Hence the new paint
and 3 days of machine polishing.
The interior was customized back in 1995
with hand made centre console, centre glove box with hand
stitched leather. The door panels, clock surround and
car entertainment system are finished in Walnut and highly
polished. Even the glove-box is carpet lined for goodness
sake!
The steering wheel is genuine Ford RS
leather bound.
The sound system consists of a Pioneer
CD / radio / MP3 player with rear sub amp and Pioneer
6x9 speakers in accoustic shelf. The door speakers are
5 inch. Each door has veneer trim. There is an 8 CD drawer
unit in the console. The sound is very very nice.
The cars drives wonderfully and anyone
who is familiar with the lack of puff from a standard
2.8 will appreciate the vast improvement. On a recent
trip to France the car was as economical to drive as any
of my past Capri V6 models.
The wheels are spanking new Brooklands
styled 15 inch with new tyres fitted 1000 miles ago.
ps forgot to add - the cam is a new Ric
Wood special designed specifically for this car
Space
desperately needed here - thus, a one time price reduction
for 28 days only.
Every now and again there's an opportunity to acquire
a piece of Ford Capri motoring excellence.
This particular car is one of those super rare cars that
had the original owner for 30 years from new. This 2.8
Injection is a fabulous straight, honest and wonderful
example of the car that has firmly cemented it's place
in UK motoring history.
She drives beautifully, and from the moment you start
it up and pull away the very sound and feel of the car
screams 'like new, just like new'!! Steering wheel is
still as textured to the feel as new.
The bodywork is all original and genuine. The interior
is like a DFS showroom. Original radio / cassette player.
Electric aerial.
Heater works great on both speeds. The dealership stickers
are still in the rear window and on the tax disc holder.
This car is the 5 speed version. Axle and transmission
are as you would expect for a 30k miler car.
Sports stainless steel exhaust system provides entertainment
when the radio is off!
The wheels pictured on the car are 15 inch Brooklands
280 styled wheels with brand new Toyo tyres. For display
purposes only.
The original Pepperpot wheels - all 5 of them - have
been fully powder coated and come shod with Goodyear NCT
Eagle tyres.
The car will be supplied with the original Pepperpot
wheels and tyes.
A viewing and test drive are invited. I will hold the
car for first refusal on a deposit of £500. Returnable
if not sold.
Please contact me if you are wanting to buy and currently
have the ready means to do so.

This Turbo Technics car is one of my ex's and has been

has come for Steve to part with his beloved Capri.
This car is all original apart from a new stainless Janspeed
sports system integrated with the TT cross-over zorst
system.
The car drives exactly like a 280 ought to - plenty of
punch yet docile when needed.
The car has service history right up to last full service.
Was off road for many years in storage. All Mots for when
it was in use.
Pirelli P700s just like the original car was shod with.
Will be supplied with original radio casette, original
dash surround etc.
Full top rated Clifford Cat 1 alarm.
The car is currently owned privately by Steve and he
is the seller. I will act as a conduit between him and
genuine buyers.
I always treat enquiries in the exact order they come
in - so whoever sends first gets first shout.
If you want this extremely desirable and stunning example
please call Steve direct and put yourself out of your
misery!!
Some tips and rules:-
1. Please arrange to see and test drive the car before
you begin to even dream of haggling and beating down the
price. The last two people Steve dealt with tried the
same stunt. It's a waste of everyone's time to do telephone
haggling over a car unseen. The price only becomes relevant
when you've been to view.
2. There is a bottom line on this car - I know what it
is and so does Steve - once driven you'll realise what
this car is all about. That's the time to negotiate.
3. Any genuine buyer can contact me and I will pass
on Steve's details to you. You will deal with him directly.
Deposit of £500 will ensure you have first refusal.
PLease contact me via the Contact form on this website.
Thanks Dr B.
ps - I was reminded
this week when Steve came down to buy the car from me.
I said, "I have two 280's here, a Turbo and a standard.
You can drive both, but I warn you now, once you drive
the Turbo you'll not be going home with the standard 280"
And the rest as they say, is history.
(don't worry if the pictures look misty or soft-focus - the
studio lights were fitted with frosted gels to give a satin
look - not my idea! )

Exclusive to this site, and

this is a welcome return to the Doctors 'waiting room'.
So here it is offered again to some fortunate 280 hunter.
A Capri 280 of outstanding appearance
and history.
Look at the top picture in the gallery.
Isn't she lovely? Very shapely,
slender yet curvaceous too. The way the sun highlights
her features, enough to turn any mans head I say! But
that's enough about the Capri........ the lovely Becks
won the day and the Capri comes back to me, yay!
This very special and well known 280 deserves to go to
an enthusiast who loves Capri 280's and is prepared to
'have and to hold, to honour,
love cherish and obey'!!
This car has won many awards, Gold at CCI, runner up
Concours, Car of the Year 2010 RetroFord Magazine etc.
This 280 has been loved and cared for by each owner,
following a meticulous restification (is that a word?)
by the last but one owner, the car has been stored in
a heated space and done 200 miles in last 18 months.
All original panels etc the 280 drives, sits and handles
like a true classic - except it feels almost new in some
ways.
Engine sweet, gearbox light, clutch lighter! Interior
is beautiful.
Stainless Janspeed exhaust - sounds wonderful.
Brand new Clifford Alarm and central locking system worth
£600.
The pictures tend to tell the story, but the Service
book, recepits MOTs, tax discs etc tell the rest.
Regular visitors to my site will know I only have the
best 280's and this is no exception.
There is 12 months MOT., it has Pirelli P700 tyres thus
looking a bit 'Time Warp'.
Everything that should work - does work.
Fabulous piece of motoring this Brooklands.
For test drive please ring or email. Will accept a deposit
of £1000 to hold. Refundable should
you turn up and decide not to buy.
If sold during November
at the full asking price - car will have 12 months MOT

280 ........
Genuine, cared for 280 that required only the Dr B touch
to release the beauty again - only better!
Sitting on Pirelli P7 original fitment tyres.
The pictures in the gallery opposite taken 14th October
2012.
This Capri 280 is a one off car. Super low miles, two
registered owners.
The car will come taxed for 6 months and MOT for 12 months.
The Capri 280 has covered only 800 miles since 2005.
Full history, service, MOTs, all laminated document history
folder.
I'll let the pictures do the talking.
Ask any questions by phone.
The first deposit of £1000 secures
the car - simple as that.
The Doctor supplies the best of this you can
be sure. My reputation for Brookies is always on the line
and I don't disappoint!
Please email me with your details and I shall
get back in touch.
Dr Brooklands 07974 000857
ps There
are very occasionally sub 4000 milers around and some
sub 20k milers around, but this one will exceed your expectations
of a 26 year old Capri 280. The car is a cert for show
winner, but can be driven every day if you wish. This
is not a museum piece even though it has museum miles.
The only test you
have to apply is this:- 'Do I want to spend a lot of my
hard earned on a Capri 280?' and if the answer is yes,
do I then want to have to spend any more of my money on
the car once I've bought it?'
If the answer to the
second question is No - then you need to come and see
my 280's.
pps - I have learned
the hard way that negotiating via email and texts leads
nowhere - so initial email will have to be followed by
phone conversations.
Sold in 2006 to Nick and Sue in Ross on Wye, the car
was gorgeous when sold.
Nick put 400 miles on the car in 6.5 years!! And it's
just as stunning now as when he bought it. Loads of polishing
and TLC has kept it pristine. Well done Nick!
Car is a beautiful example, straight, honest and showroom,
inside, outside and under bonnet.
Car is listed as For Sale due to the nice chap who put
a deposit on the car, having driven all the way from Devon
could not fit inside the Capri properly!!
So a warning to anyone with 35" inside leg measurement
- do not apply!
If your inside leg is less than 35" or you feel
appropriately morphable - give me a call.
Taxed til December 2012, MOT March 2013.
Dr Brooklands 07974 000857
ps to quote
the lanky chap "The car is 102% better than described
- I just can't fit it".
is one of those 'project' cars that I intended to do
one day.
The Capri 280 is a 7 owner car that has covered 75k miles.
It was in some ways neglected over the past few years
to the extent that you see in the pictures.
The current owner Richard tells me that he just doesn't
have the time to restore the car. (tell me about it!!).
So he offers the car here as a very good base for a restoration.
If I had time and space you wouldn't even see this on
this page today.
Here's the low down on the car:-
1. Engine starts well, no knocks, smoke or rattling,
very good oil pressure.
2. Gearbox all gears easily selectable and quiet.
3. Clutch clears and no slipping good pedal.
4. Axle cannot hear whining but sounds like a wheel bearing
has gone.
5. Floor pan is in excellent condition not rusty or welded
up.
6. Sunroof tilts and slides.
7. 7 previous keepers up to 12/10/2003
8. windscreen has a crack.
9. new Magnex stainless exhaust - a tad 'rorty' according
Richard
Possibility of some panels
with the car at extra cost!!
Anyone who knows Capri's and can turn their hand to the
obvious jobs seen in the pics would likely spend about
3 months doing the car.
I can give some guidance if required as to what's needed
but the pics tell it all.
Richard wants a quick £4750 to let the car go right
now.
For sale is a very nicely
restored Capri 280. The specs are:-
Body is in good condition, was professionally resprayed
approx 2-3 years ago. There is rust on the wings where
they are bolted on to the frame, just where the edges
of the bonnet rest.
Wheels are very good, were re coated. Original Spare
wheel with P7 tyre. Bumpers could do with a respray looking
a little dull. Also there are some stone chips on the
front, particularly below the front bumper.
Interior.
Interior is in good condition. Leather seats are not
torn, have a little wear. Could ideally be re-Connolised.
Have original lumbar pads for the recaro seats. Original
Carpets, roof covering. Dash NOT cracked.
Engine.
80,000 miles covered. Top engine was rebuilt at 70,000
miles. New water pump and radiator core fitted. Jan Speed
S/S exhaust fitted, excellent sound. When braking there
is a little shake on the steering wheel, possible discs
need replacing.
This car is owned by a friend in Tipperary, Ireland.
If you want a really nice example of a 280, give me a
call or email and I'll put you in touch with the owner.
Know of a Capri
280 for sale? Low miles, excellent condition?
If you put
me in touch with a seller and I buy the car I will pay you a finders
fee of £300
(terms and conditions:
must not be a relative of yours!! and only if I haven't seen it already)
See Home
Page for details of a new initiative that could well take off
regarding 'project' Capri 280's.
Note:
Something that has occurred in the past couple of months is that I
am being offered Capri 280's at prices that are way above what they
are worth. When I ask why so high, I am told that Capri 280's seem
to fetch high prices on my site!
Hello
- there's a reason for that. I spend months preparing the cars and
eliminating virtually every blemish, restoring leather, paintwork,
wheels, trim etc etc.
It takes
a lot of time and money to get the results I do.
If you
have a Capri 280 for sale and it's not in show winning condition then
expect it's value to be much less than a restored car.
The main reason that
Capri 280's have been raised to the level they are is because this
site and my work has brought them there. So, what I'm saying is, just
because there's a 280 badge on your car does not mean it's suddenly
worth much more.
The majority of 280's
I go to see are average. Some are very special but most are well used
and I walk away from more than I purchase.
8. Basically all the work is done or didn't need doing.
So if you want a 'project' 280 don't buy one of mine!
Probably the best
Capri 280's in the world..............
Brookies always in
the pipeline - if you want to be included in the Wanteds list - just
pop me an email stating your requirements and budget. thanks Dr B.
Factoid: The
Governments relentless attack on our disposable income has meant
a number of things - higher inflation, drop in house prices,
over 160 more stealth taxes, higher fuel, higher energy, pensions
destroyed & drop in standard of living and...... it will
get worse! Most of this was avoidable as will be shown one day.
However, it's not all bad news. There's at least one commodity
that's maintaining it's value - a classic Ford. To be specific
a classic Capri 280. Some folk are virtually investing in a
280 as either a nest-egg or at least an asset that can be released
for cash if circumstances dictate.
Capri 280's of the standard on this site are a good investment
and they give the driving experience a boost when all we hear
is bad news. There's one thing that this government hasn't penalised
us for yet and that is the width of your grin! Only a matter
of time til 'Grinning with intent' is an arrestable
offence (well tuning to Radio 2, reaching for your glasses,
scratching yer nose etc will soon render you liable to incarceration.
Smile on, get a Capri 280 and drive it with
a 20-20 grin on your chops. If you are stopped by the Attitude
Police just say you have a Grinning Permit
signed by Dr Brooklands - that ought to do it. See you in jail.............

Offered here is a chance

in the world today.
This car has covered 3,450 miles from new. That's a
yearly average of around 160.
The car is totally original. It is period correct and
authentic.
The current owner bought it summer '07 and now realises
he has no time to use it. He considers it unfair to
lock it away in his heated garage and thereby denying
anyone else from seeing or enjoying the car.
Hence it is offered exclusively here.
The next owner will be someone who appreciates the
rarity of such an example of 280 history and who has
the space and budget to accommodate such a vehicle.
If you are a person who meets the requirements then
please call Andy on ********** to discuss
viewing and possibly buying this motoring legend.
Andy is a shrewd businessman but also appreciates that
his Capri 280 ought to go to someone else now who can
fully exploit this lovely motor car.
"This 1987 Capri 280 (Brooklands) is one of the
best cars I have ever seen in a lifetime of classic
car ownership! I have owned this car for the last 8
months and have only driven it 50 yards from one of
my garages to the other. The reason is that the car
is in absolutely “Concourse” condition!"
The previous owner, bought the car in 2004 and did
a rolling full nut and bolt restoration over the next
3 years. (Photographs available) Since then it has won
virtually every show it has entered, including last
years NEC Classic car, where it was the main car, on
the prize winning Capri Club stand, where I first saw
it."
If you are a genuine buyer please call Chris Parnham

Ed Note: I saw this 280 at NEC in November
and would have bought it myself it was that good looking!
(I promised my wife I would only come back
with a crimping tool from the NEC )The
only reason this car is on my website is because it
looks like one of mine! Dr B.
Here is a chance to own
one of the lowest miles and most stunning Capri 280's
in the land. It is ready to show or drive. Interior
is exquisite, coachwork beautiful beyond......
This car was dry stored for most of it's life. Came
to me in 2007. Made into this fabulous specimen and
bought previously by a person whom I have just supplied
another car to. Hence this one is back and after a year
done only 500 miles or so. Ready to be owned by an enthusiast
right now.
The pictures don't really do it justice.
Has new stainless Janspeed system. Drives and sounds
like a thoroughbred classic. Turns heads everywhere
it goes.
12 months MOT. You won't find one like this anywhere
else is my guess.
All original Ford untouched panels. Everything
original except Janspeed exhausts.
If you buy this car and enter it in it's first
Show, and it doesn't win an award or a trophy at it's
first attempt - just let me know and I'll send you £50

A departure from the usual
on my site. A unique exception and only because this is
probably the best Capri 2.8i in the UK if not the world!!
A potted history.
D240 was a family runabout until 1994 when it was totally
stripped to a shell and rebuilt using brand new ford parts
or originals that were repainted. This was to allow the
car to be used in the Autoglym Concours D'Elegance,in
1995 and 1996 it won its regional finals and reached the
grand finals at NEC.in 1997 it was parked up under a cloth
in a garage and left until bought 5 years ago.
Since then it has been taken to shows and has done very
well - in 2007 it won a gold award at the Capri Club Nationals
and best in show at Classic Wonderland, also Best in Show
at Capri Day at Crich. It was also featured in the Concours
Corner section of RetroFord magazine in 2007 and was called
"the best 2.8 capri in the country" service
records and the service book are included as well as all
old mots.

For the ultimate enthusiast.
My ex-240 bhpCapri 280 - probably the best
example of the Turbo Technics car.
One of about 6 ever made. Prepared
in 2006 to extremely high standards.
This car is wicked. Pure and simple.
Disrespect it and you are history.
Comes with full Thatcham CAT 1
alarm, Tracker (Lifetime subscription) , fully re-finished
leather, paint, wheels. New almost everything in the fuel
department - just to be certain of excellence.
This is the F16 version. Turbo
Technics in Northants were commissioned to fit the full
240 bhp system inc. special exhaust in 1989 - when car
was fully run in and ready for the work to be carried
out inc. engine compression, gearbox uprating etc etc.
The car in 200 bhp mode is demonstrably
quicker than any F26 or F9 Turbo Technics car. Been proved.
In 240 mode it is ballistic to the point of terrifying.
Don't believe me? Come for a test drive.
A Capri 280 like no other in the U.K. This car is not
cheap and the price reflects performance, condition and
rarity.
If any of this sounds familiar you're right - Dr B owned
this car last year and due to reasons beyond the new owners
control Dr B has it to sell again. Reasons unconnected
to the car itself I must add!!
Good document history. Bills of sale etc.
Chance of a lifetime I reckon. I've never seen another
240 bhp out there - just been told there were about 6
made and they were the 230 F16 version.

This is one of the better
Capri 280's around. This car has been lovingly kept at
no regard to cost. Affectionately known as 'Honey' she
has been treated to new paint and the leather re-coloured
and refurbed where necessary.
Honey sports a Ford genuine RS front spoiler and rear
Turbo tail.
Interior and exterior are gorgeous and the car gets admiring
glances wherever she goes.
Chris has had this car for around 6 years and being very
much in the 'Ford know' has only ever used genuine Ford
stuff on the car (with the exception of the front wings
- that have been replaced with replica versions and look
the biz).
This Capri 280 is genuinely a most reluctant sale but
being realistic she has to go to make way for another
Capri......
No point in offering a silly price - the car is worth
the money and is a huge cut above the ebay specials you
see on a weekly basis.
You will find he is a 'diamond geezer' who will be totally
up front with you and will probably strike a great deal
with you. All you need is the budget and the desire to
own this car pretty soon.
Need spares and genuine Ford stuff
for Honey in the future? Well you came to the right bloke
'coz Chris is the Man - just ask him.......
Caution: he knows his car and will
not suffer canvassers, tyre-kickers and wannabees very
gladly!! If you want to sample the delights of 'Honey'
just make the call - trust me!
Space
desperately needed here - thus, a one time price reduction
for 28 days only.
